It inhabits the vegetation on the coasts and near swamps in the Greater Antilles, such as Puerto Rico, Cuba, Dominican Republic, and the Cayman Islands.
The plumage of the Antillean grackel is uniformly black with light yellow eyes. Like all Grackles it has long legs with strong claws, a long black strong bill and a long fan-like keel-shaped tail. The females are smaller than the males. They feed on berries, insects and other invertebrates.
